Sharing and Publishing
Compare direct access sharing with Marketplace publishing for knowledge bases and skills under the current permission model.
UnieAI Studio offers two distinct ways to distribute an asset: grant selected users or organizations access, or submit a fixed snapshot or version to the public Marketplace. Their audience, update behavior, and security boundaries differ.
Choose the right method
| Need | Recommended method | What the recipient gets |
|---|---|---|
| Let selected colleagues or organizations use an asset | Access permissions | Direct access to the current asset |
| Invite a named user to maintain it | Co-editor access | Permission to edit content, settings, and access entries |
| Let all Studio users discover and acquire it | Marketplace publishing | An approved knowledge-base snapshot or skill version |
| Give each recipient a skill copy | Marketplace skill import | A workspace copy linked to the source skill |
Public access on a knowledge base is not a Marketplace listing by itself. A snapshot, listing details, administrator review, and approval are still required.
Share access directly
Knowledge-base and skill settings both include Workspace → Access. The creator or a co-editor can search for users or groups and add them to the asset.
Roles
| Role | Permission |
|---|---|
| Can use | Use the knowledge base or skill without changing settings or the access list |
| Can edit | Includes use access and permits editing the asset and managing access |
| Creator / Owner | Full asset management and not a normal removable access entry |
Group entries are fixed to Can use. An individual in a personal workspace may be assigned Can use or Can edit. Organization policy locks individually shared users to Can edit. Platform and account quotas may limit how many users can be added.
Direct sharing points to the same live asset, so later edits are visible to its users. Removing an access entry removes that user's or group's direct access path.
Publish to the Marketplace
Marketplace publishing is for reusable content distributed to other workspaces. It currently supports a fixed knowledge-base snapshot and a fixed version of an original skill.
The workflow is under Release → Publishing in the asset settings. Enable Publish to Marketplace, select a snapshot or version, add a description and price, and submit it for administrator review. Only approved content appears under Marketplace → KB & skill tool store.
- A user adopts an approved knowledge-base listing into the current workspace dataset. The approved snapshot defines the Marketplace content.
- A user imports an approved skill version as a workspace copy. Updates are explicit.
- Listings can be free or paid and can accumulate adoption/import counts, ratings, and reviews.
- Direct access sharing creates no store listing, public search result, or Marketplace transaction.
Permission and publishing boundaries
| Asset | Direct sharing | User publishing to the tool store | Published unit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Knowledge base | Yes | Yes | Snapshot |
| Skill | Yes | Yes, except imported copies | Version |
| Customize Model | Yes | No | — |
| SQL database, API tool, Remote MCP Server | Depends on the resource | No | — |
| Model Zoo base model | Platform-managed | Not a user publishing flow | Platform model listing |
Marketplace review is managed by platform admin and super_admin roles. Editing ownership does not allow a publisher to approve their own submission.
Safe sharing practices
- Grant Can edit only when maintenance is required; use Can use for execution or querying.
- Before snapshotting a knowledge base, remove personal data, secrets, internal URLs, and content you are not licensed to distribute.
- Before publishing a skill, inspect
SKILL.md, references, scripts, and assets for credentials or internal-only information. - Marketplace icons, covers, and descriptions are public metadata and must not contain secrets.
- Revoking direct access does not automatically delete an already imported skill copy.
